Bravo jumped on the soon to be TV icon and turned the cameras on her company, as well as her private life as a single mother living and raising her daughter in New York City. While you might not want to work for her, its incredibly refreshing to see a no nonsense woman given respect in her field, working for what she has and wanting to help those around her find their most successful selves. I can not wait to see all the behind the scenes mayhem of NYC fashion week, photo shoots and what the “real” employees of People’s Revolution think about their jobs and boss.

So let me take a moment to thank the good people over at Bravo for allowing me to spend an hour a week with my most favorite fashion insider and ultra NYC tough chick. The show premieres on February 1st at 10PM, but you can get a sneak peek right now.

Is there no end to the funny that is Kathy Griffin? The queen of the D-List happily skewered Kate Gosselin, mother of eight, abuser of men and overall most hated woman in 2009, for her appearance on the Jimmy Kimmel show last night. She did this with the help of the brilliantly creepy George Takei and it was beautiful. Watch as the Lifetime Network has never looked so good.

Personally, I don’t hate Gosselin, but I am mad at the great deal of coverage she gets. I think she has made some bad choices, namely marrying a douchebag like Jon, but to keep a family of eight afloat nowadays, you have to get creative. I find it interesting that she has received the majority of the backlash from the public until Jon stepped out with some young coed. Every time I watched the show, which wasn’t often, she seemed intent in getting her kids to be disciplined and enjoying the most out of what reality fame could bring them. But that doesnt make the above clip any less funny. I can’t wait to see who Griffin takes on next.

Anderson Cooper’s commentary on the state of pop culture and reality TV is ALWAYS on point. Cooper discussed Heidi Pratt’s “performance” at the Miss Universe pageant and at first it reminded me that that crap fest was actually still on air, but it also cut through the BS that seems to follow Heidi and her flesh-colored beard having hubby. Heidi’s little song and dance, which featured her within a G & G version of the sexy bejeweled nude ensemble Britney rocked a bazillion years ago at the MTV’s VMAs. It was also a travesty to the word “performance”. So Cooper took to the airwaves to comment on Heidi’s appreciation for her own mediocre showing, her thanking God for the embarrassing show and the question on all of our minds, how is this person famous?

“If God had the time to work on this production, if this is the best God can do, then we’re all in trouble.” Quotes like this is the number one reason to love Anderson Cooper.

Oh Project Runway how I missed you so. With the return of the original respectable competition reality program, there is no longer a gaping hole in my heart. And while this season took as long to hit the airwaves as it would take for me to pop out a kid, it was worth it. Apparently, I’m not the only one who thought it was worth the wait since 4.2 Million viewers turned in, making it the highest premiere for both the series and its new network home.

Let’s just be honest, it’s hard to fall in love with like fifteen designers within the designated hour they are given to shine for the audience. And I checked out the All-Stars challenge and that was truly a waste of two hours of film. So it would have been nice for the season premiere, on a new network and in a new city, to have been extended so we could fall in love with the program all over again after its very long hiatus. But this did not happen, so we have to work with what we have. We met the designers, some who I immediately fell in love with and others I couldn’t wait to hear being told Auf wiedersehen.

The first challenge to befall the designers was to create a red carpet look that was next level, interesting and yet an interpretation of what to expect from them in the future. Tim Gunn gave this news upon the Primetime Emmys red carpet, so you know this season will be all about Hollywood and at the same time your sadly reminded how gosh darn long ago this mess was taped. So the designers head to the LA outlet of Mood, which was created on site at FIDM just for the series, to buy their $200 of fabric for their red carpet look. They all seemed to have a great grasp on what they wanted to accomplish with their first challenge, but it was Johnny, the former meth addict that was bringing the whole vibe down. He hated his sketches, was terrified of pattern and seemed to be very very overwhelmed with the prospect of the competition. In essence, he had the first meltdown and we had only seen about the first five minutes of the show. Overall, it seemed to be quite a skilled group of designers and a refreshing change from other season’s first challenges, where there seemed to be tons of freak outs and bad designs.

Johnny seemed to pull it together and create a really refreshing design after his heart to heart with Tim Gunn. Ari Fish, an adorable pixie who resembles Samantha Ronson, was obviously the avant garde designer of the group and since she doesn’t create runway looks, went against t the grain and create a silver quilted tunic and a pair of shorts to go underneath. Unless Lady Gaga is walking down the runway, I am not sure who would have rocked this look. Other standouts for disaster were Mitchell, who was creating a see through version of one of Mrs. Roper’s dusters and Malvin, with his dowdy cocktail length dress and his Thompson Twins style haircut. Mitchell’s nightie was literally sewn, with help of the model and other designers, up until the dress went down the runway. It was basically see through and completely unwearable.

The runway led to the season’s first surprise guest judge, the lovely orange Lindsay Lohan. I was excited to see this hip celeb, who considers herself a designer, as a guest judge, especially on this particular challenge. Sadly, I’m not sure Lohan was excited for the task. She came to the runway with an air of boredom and dislike. In between her dismissive looks, she continuously commented on “sexy backs” and overused the generic statement “I really liked this dress”.

When it came to the designs, there were more than a handful I thought could be the winners, but the top honors went to Johnny’s, Chris’ and Ra-mon’s. Johnny’s was inventive and definitely a different silhouetted than normal for the red carpet. The judges loved the construction, but they felt it would be chicer in a more subdued color, like navy or black. Ra-mon’s was classic runway. It was constructed well, fit the model like a glove and could be worn at the Emmys or the Oscars. While the judges loved the dress, they felt that Ra-mon was a bit too safe with such a standard style and wanted to see him break through to a more exciting silhouette. And Chris’ was, as Michael Kors described it, cute yet edgy. His cocktail length dress was a wonderful option for any young starlet attempting to make a scene on the carpet and with a few minor changes, the judges thought it was a perfect response for the challenge. Chris was crowned the winner and then we learned that Ari, Mitchell and surprisingly Qristyl’s duel pattern dress were considered the worst in the bunch.

Ari’s dress, or tunic, was definitely inventive but didn’t really meet the challenge’s requirements. I think that if she had produced a better bottom, such as a sateen cigarette pant in black or extended the length of the tunic, this might not have been such a flop. Qristyl’s dress seemed to be poorly constructed in the front and seemed to not fit the model well, which would be the kiss of death for any star walking down the red carpet. But the real failure in my mind was Mitchell’s dress or lack thereof. His dress was essential a nude sheer nightgown with a lovely detailed neckline. He complained that he had to basically sew this by hand 30 minutes before the runway because his model’s measurements were incorrect on the card he was given at the beginning of the challenge. The judges debated on who should go home, Ari or Mitchell. Qrisyl was safe, because while her dress wasn’t perfect it was definitely much better than the other two in the bottom. The judges felt that while Ari’s was better constructed, her simple lack of understanding the needs of the challenge were worse than a sheer dress. So she was out and Mitchell was in. I happen to disagree, mainly because I felt that her outer space ideas were well executed and would be interesting going forward, as opposed to Mitchell, who continuously made excuses as to why he fell short. And since Ari reminded me of Samantha Ronson, it was like watching Lilo and Sam break up all over again. Ari left gracefully and from next week’s coming attractions, Mitchell seems to fall short at the next challenge too.

What did you think of the judge’s decisions? Should Ari have been given the ol’ auf wiedersehen or should it have been directed at Mitchell?
Also this season, Lifetime has increased the Project Runway brand with the Models of the Runway program that follows what goes on behind the scenes for the ladies of the catwalk. I will definitely be watching this, since its an interesting view of what the models go through after the runway, and it has a bit of a America’s Next Top Model feel, just without the hot mess that is Tyra Banks. We also get to see the designers chose their models in the half an hour following, so it might pull in more ratings than expected.

Overall, as a Project Runway fanatic, I’m glad its back on TV and I do hope it gets a bit more exciting as the season goes on.

Hallelujah “Top Chef” is back baby! Tonight marks the season premiered of the foodie competition show and this go around we watch the chefs battle for their position in the perfect place for competition – Las Vegas! What can we expect from this season: A LOT OF guest appearances from celebrity chefs, magicians and DRAMA. With the love the program is getting and it being Bravo’s cash cow, after the departure of Project Runway to LifetimeTV, this season must really grab the audience. I think this could be the best to date, but in all honesty, I say this every go around.

Last week, E! took to the their site to discuss if their audience was indeed sick to death of Spencer and Heidi Pratt. They hit up each reporter and the network’s main Twitter page to drive traffic to the online poll and a resounding 94% of us said – DITCH ‘EM! And so they did. As of yesterday, the network and its online presence were declared Speidi-Free zones.

I, like many people with half a brain, was disappointed with the overwhelming media coverage these two nitwits were receiving last week and spoke up about it on this site. I found myself hoping that one entertainment news organization would hold themselves accountable for this mess and begin fixing the situation and surprisingly E! did it. I personally voted in the online poll, because as a freelance writer and blogger, I have the time to do these sort of things and the response was so overwhelming the site freaked out twice. And when I re-tweeted Mark Malkin’s post on the subject, I had various people out there agreeing with me and stating that if E! does it, other networks will simply have to follow. Hopefully, this will not allow Heidi to start another publicity campaign based on her “feeling attacked”. And I also hope that E! sticks to its word and barring any actual news revolving the couple, i.e. pregnancy, jobs, zombie attacks, we will not be hearing about them in the near future. So Access Hollywood, Entertainment Tonight, Star magazine, US Weekly, etc., when will you be following E!’s lead?

Wow Tyra Banks really knows how to show a girl a good time. According to Paulina Porizkova, the resident supermodel judge on “America’s Next Top Model”, she was fired from the program, via telephone, on her birthday. Paulina dished it out on “The Late Late Show with Colin Ferguson” last night and was not afraid to be honest.

“The reason I was told I was fired was because, it seemed, that [the show] has gotten too fat and they needed to cut some fat and the fat was me,” Porizkova said. “I figured it was either that or my gigantic huge ego. Which I wasn’t aware of until I was told by the producers that I had an ego problem.”

The irony of anyone being told they have too big of an ego to work with by Tyra Banks or her cohorts is beyond hysterically iroinuic. Its like the big fat ass calling someone else a big fat ass. Anyways, hopefully Paulina lands somewhere bigger and better, or actually maybe just smaller and less drag queeny. Here’s the whole interview.

And if you still care about this hot mess, like I do, you will tune in tonight to see Teyona bring home the prize and Alison continuing to the be jealous of noise bleeds.
