I kid, I kid. If you are a fan of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, you will know how the term eviscerates is misused on a daily basis by political leaning blogs. But Stewart did in fact stop by O’Reilly’s studio and discussed real politics, real tactics to fight terror and their beliefs, which lead to a pretty impressive discussion between the two talking heads.
Stewart, as always, was charming and while kept his responses sharp and witty, earnestly wanted to have a conversation with O’Reilly. And on Bill’s behalf, he did seem to entertain the idea of actually discussing ideas with Stewart as opposed to his usual scream tactics. Unfortunately, he didn’t seem to really take much ownership of things he has said and blamed a great deal of the anti-Obama sentiment on Fox News on his cohorts like Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity, which Stewart managed to call him on. Check out the unedited footage FoxNews was smart enough to put on their site.

Bill O’Reilly doesn’t want to have a real discussion of issues, because then he would be required to use logic and cite examples to defend his various positions, and he knows he can’t. Its far easier to foist things off on his “buddies” at Fox, as if to say “I’m not really part of that.” And yet every day, his show is hyperbole and hypocrisy central; as long as he maintains a veneer of righteousness and being a “man of the people,” he gets to spew his bombast and venom. I’ll bet things will be chilly at the next Fox News Christmas party.
