Are we supposed to be surprised here? I don’t think we are and in a way I can sort of appreciate the way that Adam Lambert and the magazine decided to go with this. Yes,he could have just kept silent, but then he would technically be denying something we all already know. Or he could have gone the cheesy celebrity route, like Clay Aiken and Lance Bass, and announce it as a big deal on the cover of “People”. I appreciate that the majority of the article is actually on Lambert, his career goals and what brought him to the “American Idol”stage in the first place. Let’s also not forget that Lambert has been performing since an early age and is part of a generation that don’t necessarily need to be closeted, yet don’t need to scream their sexuality status from the rooftops either.
Now,I was not a big fan of Adam’s originally,as you might remember, but I grew to really appreciate what he brought to the contest this season. He was refreshing in that he was not afraid to be flamboyant, but also push boundaries, rearrange songs and perform what he wanted, not what would be safe. And hell,I believe this is the only contestant the show has ever had that knows about the Burning Man festival, let alone had their competition epiphany there while on hallucinogenics. His honesty and his performance level will get him far in this business and I hope the “is he or isn’t he?”questioning is over and we can actual discuss his talent. But I would have cracked up on the finale if he ended his tenure with “American Idol”with this hit…
