Last night,“Whatever Works”,Woody Allen’s cinematic return to New York City,opened the Tribeca Film Festival last night. From early reviews,one can assume that Larry David steps into the quintessential neurotic role that Allen is so well known for pitch perfectly. And while the event was star-studded,with most of the costars of the film throwing praise at Woody Allen,not all the critics have been so favorable,questioning the romance between Mr. Larry David’s character and Evan Rachel Wood’s,who is about 30+ years junior to David. But lets not get it twisted,it seems that Allen’s return to New York might prove him well just yet,from some of the reviews. Either way,I am beyond bummed I was unable to attend,nor work the event,as I am doing a stint at Tribeca this go around. But any review will not hold me back when “Whatever Works” begins its limited release in theaters,beginning on June 19,2009.
