There are few things that can pick an already stellar weekend, where your boyfriend had just surprised you with a trip to DC and all you did was enjoy amazing food in a gluttonous fashion and walk around a lovely historical city (more on this later). And last night it managed to get better! Let’s just say that the 14 year old girl inside me is doing somersaults and cart wheels over this news!

Trent Reznor, the techie that he is, has been alerting his fans and website members to Nine Inch Nail news on major anticipation of some sort of project between the two bands or a newly recorded album. Reznor has been giving clues for awhile on nin.com, but yesterday he opened up about the partnership, how much Jane’s as a band means to him and his music and why the two bands will be GOING OUT ON TOUR TOGETHER THIS SUMMER!!! Yep, you heard right – Nine Inch Nails and Jane’s Addiction together again, for the first time in eighteen years. It’s not all good news since Reznor is billing this tour as a “wave goodbye” for NIN. The singer and mastermind behind the group claims that the business and shows have become more tiring than anything and that the band will be going away for a bit. They decided to go out with a bang and bring along the reunited Jane’s for a kick ass wave goodbye. They will begin this amazingness at the Sasquath Festival, taking place in Washington on May 23 – 25. The festival will be bigger and better in indie terms than Bonnaroo or Coachella this go around with other headliners like TV on the Radio, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Animal Collective and Grizzly Bear to name a few.
I am ecstatic that Jane’s Addiction decided to take the reunited foursome on the road in a big way. While I wish I was an LA resident and got to go to these smaller shows, I’m not. Last night, they brought the live show to the Echoplex, a venue comparable to Webster Hall for all you NYers out there, which was nice to allow more than 150 fans to see them. They also provided fans a guaranteed entry to the show if they were one of the first 500 people to sign up on the new JanesAddiction.com mailing list. I understand that to maximize and make it worth the fans while, they will need to choose places where the performance can seem intimate, but also will be big enough to accommodate all their fans who have been waiting nearly 20 years for the true reunion to occur, like how Morrissey is doing next month. I will be there, seeing this happen, probably blacking out from excitement and then hopefully doing it all again in a few other local cities – the joy of being an East Coaster. I just hope Perry doesn’t do anything to screw it up.
What do you think about the match up? Are you going to miss Trent and the boys? Are we creaming over the idea of seeing Eric Avery with Jane’s Addiction again?

[...] but I beg it to attempt to prove me wrong. Well at least if you grew up in the 80’s it is. First, Jane’s Addiction announced it would bring the original line up back together for a U.S. tour with Nine Inch Nails (YARGH!!!!). Then Depeche Mode had to one them up and announce a deluxe box [...]
