The Week That Was…

The Week That Was…

Oh yeah, the first week of February was a bit ‘eh in the pop culture department. Let’s review in this quick session in….the week that was.

- Some jerkface Groundhog predicted another 6 weeks of winter for our lames asses here in the states. And another one bit Mayor Bloomberg in the hand.

- Michael Phelps apologized for his indiscretions with “the pot”and Kellogg’s dropped him as their spokesperson. He was also suspended for three months because some asshole sold a picture of him smoking weed from a bong. The madness will apparently not die on this story and the LA Times thinks this could be good to discuss the drug.

- Chris Brown ditched the Grammys because he was wanted by the LAPD for an alleged domestic abuse incident that went down last night. His victim was not name by the report and the singer has since turned himself into the police. Rhianna,Brown’s long time girlfriend, was also absent from the Grammy’s but no word if she was involved with the incident.

- Asa Buchanan,or in real life Phil Carey, has passed away. The patriarch of Llanview, the drama filled town in“One Life to Live” was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2006 and was a constant bad ass on the soap opera and TV circuit. He will be missed. This is the second loss for the soap within the weeks,as Clint Ritchie, original Clint Buchanan and son of Asa,passed away from a blood clot on January 31st.

- Drew Barrymore was apparently so wasted in the 1990′s she forgot to get her tongue pierced ten years ago. Now that she is sober and single, she felt it was a good time to do it. Next she will begin to dance with glow sticks and wear baggy jeans.

- And finally,Bradley Cooper hosted Saturday Night Live last night, with my favorite musical guests TV on the Radio. Unfortunately, the talented Cooper was saddled with some very unfunny sketches. What is going on with the writers on that show recently? At least,TVOTR rocked it and performed two of my favorites off their highly acclaimed albm Dear Science.

Please check back each Sunday night for your weekly recap of the week’s highlights and low points in all things pop culture.
