As per usual nowadays, everyone is up in arms over something that happened in a “Saturday Night Live” skit this weekend and its not over Kanye’s sad performance. On “Weekend Update”, which would be the last one Amy Poehler would co-anchor, there was an “interview” with Governor Patterson from NY, played flawlessly by Fred Armisen. Armisen, played the partially blind governor pretty straight on and used the four minutes on “Weekend Update” to mock New Jersey, discuss Patterson’s lack of knowledge before gaining NY’s top position after Spitzer stepped down and his admitted previous drug use and adultery. As a New Yorker, I think Patterson has done quite a good job taking over after such a crazy thing and has made the position his own. A while later, when Poehler was giving her Good Bye speech, “Gov. Patterson” interrupted the festivities and it was hilarious. Maybe I have bad taste or I just understand the point of a good impression and joke, but this morning there was a fury from Patterson’s office, Blind Associations and the media, to name a few. Ugh people, its fucking 2008 and we need to freaking laugh. I am sick of talking about this being unfair and this being mean. Move on, you don’t like it, change the channel, turn off the TV, but if you believe that people afflicted with blindness will find any more issues now that this impersonation was on at 12:15AM on a Sunday morning, you need to get a life.
Anyways, here is the hilarious and unfortunately very short goodbye from Ms. Amy Poehler. She will be sincerely missed by my ass on this show.
